USD Music Department welcomes Illinois musician as guest pianist

VERMILLION, S.D. -- The University of South Dakota Department of Music will present guest pianist Ian Moschenross in a solo recital at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23 at Colton Recital Hall in the Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts.

The program, featuring works by Bach, Schumann, Mendelssohn and Schubert, is free and open to the public.

A versatile pianist, Moschenross is an active recitalist, chamber musician and accompanist throughout western Illinois. An associate professor of music, he has served on the faculty of Monmouth Collage since 2004 where he teaches applied piano, music history, theory, appreciation and interdisciplinary courses. He also chaired the music department from 2005-2011. A member of the Illinois Music Teachers Association, Moschenross is a past executive board member and past treasurer and he has held the post of Principal Keyboard of the Knox-Galesburg Symphony since 2004.

Moschenross earned degrees from Hanover College and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he studied with C. Kimm Hollis and Mark Clinton, respectively. A photo of Moschenross is available for download at
