Two USD professors of Addiction Studies appointed to national accrediting organization

VERMILLION, S.D. -- Diane Sevening, Ed.D. and John Korkow, Ph.D., of the University of South Dakota’s Department of Addiction Studies, have been selected as National Addiction Studies Accreditation Commission (NASAC) site evaluators for its new national addiction program accreditation process. NASAC is the national accrediting body for college-level addiction studies programs in the United States and is the result of a joint effort by NAADAC (National Association for Addiction Professionals) and INCASE (International Coalition for Addiction Studies Education).
 

“I am very proud of the addiction studies faculty, who consistently demonstrate their national leadership and commitment to excellence,” said Michael Lawler, Ph.D., dean of the School of Health Sciences at USD.

Sevening has served as a member, board member, president and is the current treasurer of INCASE. She is presently the North Central Regional Vice President for NAADAC. Sevening has won numerous national and state awards for her work in the addiction field and is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Addiction Studies within the School of Health Sciences at USD. Korkow has served as a member, board member and is president-elect of INCASE. He is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Addiction Studies within the School of Health Sciences at USD.
