USD grad student recipient of PKP Love of Learning Award

VERMILLION, S.D. -- University of South Dakota student Jason T. Simmons is the recipient of 2012 Love of Learning Award from the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
 

Simmons, who received a B.S. in pre-professional health sciences from the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in 2011, is a graduate student in the M.B.A. Health Services Administration program at the Beacom School of Business. Simmons, of New Underwood, S.D., is one of 140 recipients of the Love of Learning Awards that provide students with $500 to cover the costs of post-baccalaureate education or professional development for active Phi Kappa Phi members. The son of Tom and Marsha Simmons of New Underwood, Simmons is presently doing his practicum in health services administration at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The Love of Learning Awards Selection Committee notified Simmons on Sept. 21 that he was one of more than 1,000 applicants to receive a 2012 Love of Learning Fellowship from the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest, largest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Founded in 1897 at the University of Maine, its chapters are on more than 300 campuses in the United States, Puerto Rico and the Philippines.
