The Princeton Review cites USD as ‘one of nation’s best’ for 15th consecutive year

VERMILLION, S.D. -- When it comes to providing students with an outstanding undergraduate educational experience, the University of South Dakota is one of the nation’s best, according to The Princeton Review.

Students surveyed for “The Best 378 Colleges: 2014 Edition” praise USD for its wide selection of career placement services and described the Honors Program as “the best-kept secret in the country.” Students also commented that USD “gives students many options as far as majors go” and that “the odds of getting into a professional or graduate program are good.” USD is the lone South Dakota college or university featured in “The Best 378 Colleges: 2014 Edition,” which was released today. This also is the 15th consecutive year that USD is featured in the education services company’s college guidebook.

The Princeton Review ranking validates that the University of South Dakota is committed to providing students with quality academic and research programs at an affordable cost,” said James W. Abbott, president of the University of South Dakota. “From outstanding faculty to a distinguished Honors Program, USD offers students excellent value for their educational investment.”

Only 15 percent of America’s 2,500 four-year colleges and four colleges outside the United States are profiled in this year’s guide, which does not rank colleges academically or numerically from 1 to 378 in any category. The lists are entirely based on The Princeton Review’s survey of 126,000 students attending the colleges and not on The Princeton Review’s opinion of the schools. The 80-question survey topics ranged from professors to financial aid and campus living.  “The Best 378 Colleges: 2014 Edition,” the 22nd issue of The Princeton Review’s annual college guide, can be found at www.princetonreview.com/college-rankings.aspx.
