Lambda Chi Alpha chapter at USD honored with multiple awards

VERMILLION, S.D. -- The Alpha-Gamma chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity at the University of South Dakota was recognized as one of Lambda Chi’s top chapters at the fraternity’s annual conference in July.

During the three-day Stead Leadership Seminar at the University of Memphis, the men from Alpha-Gamma Zeta were recognized with the Phoenix and North American Food Drive (NAFD awards. The Phoenix Award is presented to chapters that make outstanding improvements in chapter operations, membership growth and scholastic excellence.

“We’re honored to be recognized for our efforts at making our chapter the best it can be,” said Tyler Tordsen of Rapid City, S.D., chapter president of Alpha-Gamma Zeta, who was also honored with the Duke Flad Award as the top Lambda Chi Alpha undergraduate ( Tordsen has served as president, vice president, fraternity educator, ritualist and alumni correspondent for the USD chapter.

The NAFD award recognized Alpha-Gamma’s contributions to Lambda Chi Alpha’s annual food drive. The Alpha-Gamma chapter raised a total of 22,950 pounds of non-perishable items for the food drive.

“The achievements we have witnessed from the Lambda Chi chapter at the University of South Dakota are tremendous,” said Lambda Chi Alpha CEO Bill Farkas. “The leadership at Alpha-Gamma has really shown the value of courageously leading a group of men to bring forth positive change.”
