Beacom School of Business earns Princeton Review praise as one of nation’s best

VERMILLION, S.D. -- The University of South Dakota Beacom School of Business is one of the nation’s most outstanding business schools, according to the education services company, The Princeton Review, which features USD’s business school in the new 2014 edition of its book, “The Best 295 Business Schools.”

Available now, the “Best 295 Business Schools” praises the Beacom School of Business faculty and administration, and lauds the business school for its affordability and high-quality business programs. Established in 1927, the Beacom School of Business is the only nationally-accredited business program in South Dakota. Criteria used in rating these outstanding business schools, according to The Princeton Review, were based on student opinion categories such as overall academic experience, admissions selectivity, career placement, interesting professors and the accessibility of professors.

According to information published in the guidebook, about 48 percent of USD business students are in finance and accounting, and 38 percent of recent graduates found government employment. The average salary for new graduates is about $43,000.

“We recommend USD’s Beacom School of Business as one of the best institutions a student could attend to earn a business school degree,” stated Robert Franek, Princeton Review Senior vice president-publisher. “We chose the schools we profile in this book based on our high regard for their academic programs and our reviews of institutional data we collect from the schools.”

The guidebook does not rank business schools in the book on a single hierarchical list from 1 to 295, or name one business school best overall.  Instead, the book has 11 ranking lists of the top 10 business schools in various categories.  For more information or to view The Princeton Review’s “Best 295 Business Schools: 2014 edition" online, go to www.princetonreview.com/business-school-rankings.aspx.
