USD fraternity sponsors ‘Thursday Night Live’ fundraiser to benefit pediatric cancer center

VERMILLION, S.D. -- The Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Kappa Pi Chapter at the University of South Dakota, is hosting the 17th annual philanthropy event, “Thursday Night Live,” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14 at Aalfs Auditorium inside Slagle Hall.

“Thursday Night Live” is a sketch comedy philanthropy event that is open to all audiences, including the university community and general public. Proceeds from “Thursday Night Live” will benefit Cure Kids Cancer, an organization dedicated to finding life-saving treatments for children’s cancer. Cure Kids Cancer locally supports the pediatric oncology center at Sanford Children’s Hospital, the Castle of Care, in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Last year, Pi Kappa Alpha raised more than $3,500 for Cure Kids Cancer through the generous support and donations of community members and students at the University of South Dakota.

“We are excited to sponsor this year’s show and could not be more excited to help the children at the Castle in Sioux Falls,” stated USD student Amos Meyer of Williams, Iowa, who is serving as philanthropy chair in 2013 and is optimistic about doubling the money raised by the chapter to fight childhood cancer.

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the Muenster University Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. now through the day of the show. Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the performance. For more information about “Thursday Night Live” or to find out how you can help Pi Kappa Alpha fight children’s cancer, please contact Meyer at (605) 659-6023 or email
