USD Department of Music welcomes guest violinist Yavet Boyadjiev

VERMILLION, S.D. -- Cuban-American violinist Yavet Boyadjiev will present a recital and masterclass at the University of South Dakota on Tuesday, April 29.
 

Sponsored by the USD Department of Music and the USD College of Fine Arts Diversity Committee, the recital is at 11a.m. and will include a performance with USD faculty pianist Susan Keith Gray and works by Schumann and Cuban violinist José White. The masterclass with USD violin students is scheduled for 5 p.m. that afternoon. Both events will be in the Colton Recital Hall in the Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts and are free and open to the public.

Boyadjiev is a performer and a professor of violin at Mahidol University College of Music in Bangkok, Thailand. From 2003 to 2009, she was a faculty member at the Juilliard School’s Music Advanced Program as well as a faculty member at the Brooklyn College Preparatory Center for Music, Theater and Dance. Most recently, she has been invited to join the faculty of the Cremona International Music Academy and Competition.

Boyadjiev’s performances have taken her around the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Niagara Falls International Music Festival (Ontario), the Look and Listen Festival (New York), the Asia International Guitar Festival and Competition (Bangkok), the New York Summer Music Festival and Institute, and the Thailand International Composition Festival (Bangkok. She is a co-founder of both The Bangkok Piano Trio and the Boyadjiev/Cesarczyk duo, and regularly premieres works by contemporary composers.
