South Dakota Women’s Basketball Ranks 18th in WBCA’s Division II Academic Honor Roll

VERMILLION, S.D. -- The University of South Dakota women’s basketball team continues to pull in academic honors, ranking 18th in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top-25 Team Honor Roll for NCAA Division II in 2004-05. USD recorded a team grade point average of 3.391.
Drury (Mo.), an NCAA Division II member, led all three NCAA divisions, the NAIA and the Junior College/Community College divisions with a 3.802 grade point average. The grade point averages for the academic top-25 teams were calculated by dividing the total number of quality points earned by each student-athlete on an institution’s squad list in the given academic terms by the total number of hours earned by the team. The GPAs were rounded to the nearest thousandth of a point.

USD, which finished the 2004-05 season with a 17-13 overall record and a 3-9 mark in the NCC, has consistently compiled team grade point averages over 3.2. In fact, USD finished fourth nationally on the WBCA honor list in 2001, registering a 3.555 grade point average.  In terms of individual honors, USD had two Academic All-NCC selections (Meghan Woster, Erica Schroeder) in 2005 and has 27 in the history of the program, as well as six Academic All-Americans.
