President's Research Day 2009

The public as well as the entire campus community is invited to learn more about the research and creative accomplishments of U faculty at President's Research Day. This annual celebration will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at the beautiful new Muenster University Center Ballroom.

PRESIDENT'S RESEARCH DAY AGENDA
2:30 PM Research Excellence Awards and Honorees Presentations
Outstanding researchers in the categories of Early/Mid-career, Established Faculty, and Innovation & Entrepreneurism will be honored. The President's Awards for Research Excellence recognize faculty research and creative activities which have made extraordinary contributions to knowledge and artistic expression. The President's Award for Innovation & Entrepreneurism acknowledges innovative and significant efforts to realize the commercial potential of research discoveries. Along with being recognized, each recipient will present an overview of their research.



4:00 PM Keynote Address – "Bodies Caught on Film: Sudanese Slaves and the Power of Photographs"
Our keynote speaker, Eve Troutt Powell, Ph.D., Associate Professor of History at the University of Pennsylvania will discuss the role that imagery plays in advancing understanding, framing public opinion, and impacting world events.
