Georg Henrich Scherer (1703-1778), the son of Johannes Scherer, Jr. (1664-1722), worked in Butzbach, Hesse, ca. 1741-1778. Right:  NNM 1291.  Flute by Benjamin Hallet, London, ca. 1740-1750. Conical. Four sections. Stamped on head and upper section: BENJAMIN / HALLET. Ivory, unmounted. One closed, silver key: D-sharp. Total length, 587.4 mm. Sounding length, 534.3 mm. Ex coll.: Alec Hodsdon, Lavenham, England. Arne B. Larson Collection, 1979. Benjamin Hallet (baptized 1713-died after 1753), who may have apprenticed with the flute-maker, J. J.
