NMM 4354. Violin,
Markneukirchen and/or Schönbach (Luby), ca. 1880-1910. Printed paper label with single line border,
the last two years written in black ink: Antonius Stradiuarius Cremonenſis
/ Faciebat Anno 1722 [Stradivari monogram]. Brand on back, below
button, over varnish, in cursive lettering: Wilhelmj. Pencil
inscription on inside of back, near top block: 4. Top: two-piece,
quarter-cut spruce, wide grain; wooden dowel through top into top block
on treble side of center joint; wooden dowel through top into bottom
block on bass side of center joint. Back: two-piece maple cut off-the-quarter,
with prominent, narrow curl descending slightly from center joint; button
angled inward. Gift of Laurel E. Anderson, San Raphael, California,
1988.
