Jeweled Cornet by Conn, 1883
NMM 4572. Cornet by C. G. Conn, Elkhart, Indiana,
1883. Gold-plated, jeweled, ornately engraved. Conn frequently
adorned his turn-of-the-century cornets and saxophones with multi-colored,
mirror-backed glass "jewels." Purchase funds gift of Margaret
& Ray T. DeVilbiss, Vermillion, and Verna Lippert, Sioux Falls, South
Dakota, 1989.
Instruments representing major stages in the history
and development of the world-famous Conn Company are featured in several
display cases in the Museum's Everist Gallery.
