RUBRICS
What is a Rubric?
A rubric is a rating scale that contains a set of assessment criteria that specifies the required
characteristics for each level of quality of knowledge, skills, and/or
performances.
How can a rubric be used to assess performance?
Rubrics are designed to specifically evaluate the outcomes being
measured. Rubrics provide clear evidence to students about grading criteria.
Beyond that, rubrics can help with student self-assessment, peer review of work,
assessment of learner or
program outcomes, and feedback discussions with students and their parents or
other constituents such as accrediting bodies. They are helpful when the
projects are developing and when the work is completed.
