Goals and Reflections

After reviewing how you spend your time, you should have a clear image of where you need to make some changes. You can start by creating a list of goals. Creating a simple to do list each day or making a list for each important activity will automatically help keep you on task.

Setting Goals

    Make goals that are realistic or SMART

S = Specific
M = Measurable
A = Achievable
R = Relevant
T = Timely

By looking at the objective of a goal, you should be able to step your way backwards and evaluate the process necessary to accomplish the end result.

    example
      objective
        book report
      goals
        choose a book (set deadline)
        read the book (3-4 days)
        outline thoughts 1 day
        rough draft1 day
        edit1 day
        peer revision1 day
        final draft1 day
Obviously the time table will need to be adjusted to accommodate the time before the report is due.

Reflecting

  1. What is most of your time spent on?
  2. Was there any are of your time analysis that surprised you?
  3. Compare your time log pie chart to somebody else's.  Comment on how they compare.
