The Center for Disease Control and Prevention provides a comprehensive listing of health topics.  The health topics are also available in Spanish.

Clinical Trials and Medical Research

ClinicalTrails.gov offers up-to-date information for locating federally and privately supported clinical trails for a wide range of diseases and conditions.  A clinical trail (also clinical research) is a research study in human volunteers to answer specific health questions. 

Food and Nutrition Information Center

The Food and Nutrition Information Center collects and disseminates information about food and human nutrition.  Sections of the web site include: Topics A-Z; Dietary Supplements; Dietary Guidelines; Food Composition; and a variety of other important and useful information.

Healthfinder

Healthfinder is a source for consumer health and human services information, developed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The site contains a comprehensive health library; a section called "just for you," in which the searcher chooses a demographic group and gets information specific to that group; information on doctors, dentists, nursing homes, hospitals, support groups, privacy issues, health insurance, and fraud; and a directory of healthfinder-selected sites and resources. The site is searchable and available in Spanish.

Medline Plus

Medline Plus is a service of the National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health for health care consumers. This searchable site is made up of sections on current health news, health topics, drug information, medical dictionaries, directories for finding health practitioners, and other resources, such as links to consumer health libraries and access to organizations.

Healthology

Healthology provides a large library of original, streaming health programs and health articles.  Each streaming health program is also provided in transcript format.  Healthtology also provides links to additional health resources on the world wide web.

Created in conjunction with the Johns Hopkins University and Health System, InteliHealth provides consumer health information that has been reviewed and approved by the experts at Johns Hopkins.  InteliHealth also provides access to the Harvard Medical School's Consumer Health Information.

The Mayo Clinic is renowned for its quality medical care, patient advocacy, and consumer health education endeavors. It now maintains a comprehensive Web site,
