Description: The search interface, PubMed, provides access to NLM's MEDLINE database covering the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the preclinical sciences. MEDLINE provides citations and abstracts from more than 5,000 biomedical journals published in the U.S. and in 80 other countries. The database contains over 15 million citations. Coverage is worldwide, but most records are from English-language sources or have English abstracts. My NCBI is the "filter" used in PubMed to allow a searcher to view full-text Wegner Center online journals. Please ask for assistance in configuring My NCBI.

TRIP Database: Evidence Based Medicine

Description: The TRIP database searches several evidence-based medicine resources found on the Internet. It includes content from critically appraised topics (CATs), systematic reviews, clinical practice guidelines (CPGs), medical images, and information from some evidence-based journal clubs. Other EBM links are available. The database dates back to 1997 and is based in the United Kingdom.
 
Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews

Description: The Cochrane Reviews are systematic assessments of evidence of the effects of healthcare interventions. They are intended to help people make informed decisions based on best available, high quality research. They explore the evidence for and against the effectiveness and appropriateness of treatments (medications, surgery, education, etc) in specific circumstances. Cochrane Review Groups focus on particular health topics such as breast cancer or tobacco addiction to create a systematic review. A systematic review uses a predefined, explicit methodology to identify and bring together all relevant studies on a particular healthcare intervention. Steps are taken to minimize bias when identifying relevant studies, selecting studies for inclusion in a review, and collecting and combining data from relevant studies. The full-text of the reviews, with updates, are published quarterly. may 8/22/07
