There are two ways to receive information from this newsgroup; either through Usenet or through a subscription to the physical newsgroup site.
Subscribing through Usenet:
As there are dozens of programs available to access Usenet, specific subscription instructions are not practical. Generally, follow the documentation instructions included with the newsreader through which you are accessing. If you are accessing from a university or other institution it may be necessary to contact your local computer administrator to resolve any problems which you may experience.
A Usenet subscription is favored by many subscribers since it doesn't
add excess traffic to a subscriber's e-mail box. If a subscriber finds
a particular post interesting, she can save it by either performing a simple
cut-and-paste or by forwarding the relevant message to her own personal
e-mail box. A drawback of a Usenet subscription is that not all sites carry
this newsgroup. Some Usenet providers have provisions for adding requested
newsgroups while others make no such allowances.
Subscribing through regular e-mail:
Send an e-mail message through your regular e-mail program (do not
send through Usenet) to: listproc@sunbird.usd.edu
(leave the subject line blank)
in the message body type the following: subscribe legalint-l Your Name
(example) subscribe legalint-l Learned Hand
Within an hour (usually), the listserve will send a confirmation of
your subscription. The listserve will then begin to forward a copy of every
posting subsequently made to the group.
Many users favor receiving all posts in this form due to the relative
ease that the information can then be archived and researched. Others find
that the receipt of the inevitable commercial "spams" (due to the fact
that this group is gated onto Usenet as an unrestricted group) as an intolerable
trade-off and will access the group only through Usenet.
If you have any subscription difficulties, please record the circumstances
of the error and send an e-mail to: legalint@sunbird.usd.edu.
Describe the problem as best you can and we will attempt to solve it for
you.
