The Webfolio
Your webfolio is a portfolio of your writings that you have completed in
this class, that you will place on the web. For the next several class
periods, you will spend time learning how to create web pages and put your
writings on the web. You will have the option of keeping your writings
private if you wish, although they will be accessible to all of your
classmates.
What your webfolio must include:
- A cover page introducing the contents of your webfolio and
explaining how your writing has changed or improved over the course of the
semester. In effect, you're telling me the story of your writing
experience in this class, demonstrating to me that you have grown as a
writer, and pointing out strengths in the pieces that you have included in
this webfolio. You may choose to talk about how your
understanding of a discourse community has changed, particularly with
respect to writing and/or your own involvement in a discourse community.
- Your revised writing assignment (essay 1 or essay 2). Early
in the semester, you wrote two essays and submitted one of them for a
grade at mid-semester. You should revise this graded essay once more and
include it in your webfolio.
- One of your "electronic" evaluations. This can be the web
evaluation, the listserv evaluation, or the newsgroup evaluation. Choose
your strongest evaluation, the one that most effectively demonstrates your
skills as a critical evaluator of electronic communication.
- Your two best e-journal entries. Include the two entries you
wrote that you feel were the most successful, that best demonstrate your
creativity and willingness to take risks, to experiment with your writing.
- Last, but not least: your writing project.
For extra credit, you can include:
- A topic page. Pick a narrowly focused topic that interests you,
related to your declared major(s), minor(s), or professional interests.
Write a couple of introductory paragraphs about your personal connection
to this topic (why you're interested in it). Then include a list of at
least four annotated links, directly related to the topic. For an example
that loosely follows this assignment, see
