encouraged to attend.

During the Summer, Svaty meets every Thursday evening to grill
bratwurst and work on projects.

An Incomplete Description of the Society
The Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. is a world-wide
organization for individuals who wish to study and reenact
the Middle Ages and Renaissance periods of history. The
Society is based on the landed nobility of Europe and is
governed by kings and queens and their attending courts.
The dress (garb), music, literature, sports and chivalric
ideals of those periods unify the events and activities
of the SCA.

Members study all aspects of the time period. Most visible are
the colorful garb worn at events and the armor and weapons of
the fighters. Less visible, but just as significant, are; the
customs of speech; the preparation of foods; the study of herbs;
the performance of dance, music and drama; the construction
of shelter, weapons and armor; the study of heraldry; weaving;
pottery; brewing; and, in essence, all of the varied arts and
crafts of the time period.

An essential part of the flavor of SCA is created by the practice
SCA members have of adopting an SCA persona and name for
use in the organization. Viking, Celt, Scot, Norman, Asian and
other cultures are well represented in SCA by individuals who
have adopted the garb, lifestyle and names of those Middle Age
societies. Members are free to choose whatever name and persona
they desire as long as it is appropriate to the time period.
