Finding health solutions through research

The Office of Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice is a collaborative, interprofessional environment that enables nursing faculty and students to engage in focused and innovative research. Through our projects, we seek to:

  • Better understand health and disease across the lifespan
  • Provide effective solutions to clinical problems and disease management, especially in rural settings

We provide support in the following areas:

  • Funding resources
  • Data management
  • Grant-writing and dissemination
  • Student mentoring
  • Consultation

We encourage all students to be involved in research, which helps students go beyond the classroom environment and stimulates their curiosity. Please contact our office to discuss your interests in health-related research and scholarly projects. We will be happy to explore potential research opportunities with you.

Summer Writing Academy for Nursing

The Office of Nursing Research & Scholarship sponsors the Summer Writing Academy for Nursing (SWAN). The primary goal of the SWAN is to provide a collaborative and focused intensive writing and scholarship mentored experience and to aid in setting the foundation for future scholarship. During the academy, attendees will be expected to make significant progress on writing a manuscript or a proposal on a topic of their choosing, with the option to identify and work with a writing partner. Secondary goals are to provide guidelines on designing effective oral presentations, posters and abstracts that will later be developed into a manuscript.
