The USD Sanford School of Medicine is South Dakota’s medical school, dedicated to educating South Dakota students and serving the residents of the state with highly skilled medical professionals.
If you are attending a South Dakota high school and know you want to go into medicine, we encourage you to apply for the Alumni Student Scholars Program. If selected, you'll have opportunities to interact with physicians and other health care professionals, participate in a summer clinical preceptorship and engage in research, among other unique experiences. These scholars also receive conditional acceptance to the Sanford School of Medicine.
Being a farm kid, I like smaller towns. It’s how I grew up. I have a vested interest in rural health care. With the FARM program, I saw a great opportunity to get involved and I was intrigued by the hands-on experience and well-rounded view of medicine in general all in one location.
