VERMILLION, S.D. -- A University of South Dakota professor summoned to Nepal after last year's massive earthquake has published a book based on a program he used there and elsewhere that teaches everyday people how to provide mental health assistance to each other.

Phi Beta Kappa is the most prestigious academic society for undergraduates in the United States, and USD is the only institution of higher learning public or private in the state of South Dakota with a Phi Beta Kappa chapter.

The Governor's Leadership Luncheon is a cooperative event sponsored by the University of South Dakota, the W. O. Farber Center for Civic Leadership and the USD Foundation. This exciting and unique event is designed to honor outstanding high school sophomores from South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska.
Nominated by officials at their schools, the students are recognized for their contributions in and out of the classroom and for their potential to be future leaders of their schools, communities, state and nation.
ALA SD Girls State brings together the best girls from all over the state of South Dakota to experience a week of intensive training in citizenship and government. The girls just finish their junior year of high school and have at least one semester of high school remaining.
