The Study of Life
From molecules to landscapes, the study of life is wide-ranging and important to today's world. Our department serves undergraduate and graduate students by laying the foundation for tomorrow's professionals.
We provide a broad background in biology, as well as concentrations in particular areas. The teaching and research interests of the faculty are diverse, ranging from physiology and cell biology to ecology and environmental stress physiology, neuroendocrinology, and population and evolutionary ecology.
Our faculty are active in research and receive support from the nation's most prestigious funding agencies such as the National Institute of Health and the National Science Foundation. Students are not only able to learn in the classroom, but have ample opportunities to work in laboratories performing cutting-edge research.
We also have extensive resources to support teaching and research interests. Our facilities have been and continue to be upgraded by major external awards, and we maintain several research collaborations with the USD School of Medicine.
We offer a comprehensive and challenging program of study leading to both undergraduate (B.A., B.S.) and graduate (M.A., M.S., Ph.D.) degrees.
If you're looking for an extraordinary education and research experience, we encourage you to consider our program.
