English as a Second Language (ESL)
ESL at The University of South Dakota helps students learn or improve English skills.
Classes are small, so students are assured of having much opportunity to practice their English language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Many individuals - undergraduate students as well as doctoral candidates - serve as tutors, instructors and mentors in the ESL program.
Those of us in the English Department - faculty, teaching assistants, and tutors - welcome you! We are here to help you with your English communication questions and concerns, so please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. It is the wise student who addresses language concerns first and foremost. Only with strong language skills can you hope to be as successful as possible, no matter your area of interest and study.
