Biologists walk on the wild side - studying everything from plant physiology to animal ecology. Biology provides you with a science "stepping stone" to numerous career paths in a wide range of fields. You'll find bio grads at work in medicine and healthcare, research, conservation and ecology, education and government.
The Department is located in the Churchill-Haines building. Individual faculty members have research labs with specialized equipment supporting their research programs. Departmental facilities have been and continue to be upgraded by major external awards (NIH, NSF, and HHMI). Additionally, the department maintains several research collaborations with The School of Medicine and frequently has access to additional instrumentation (SEM, confocal microscope, etc.). The Missouri River Institute on campus provides a focal point for research and scholarly activity, education, and outreach pertaining to all aspects of the Missouri River Basin. Biology is a department within the College of Arts and Sciences. For questions about our program, please contact us: Kaius Helenurm, Department Chair
