Welcome to the University of South Dakota Department of Accounting.

With seven faculty and approximately one hundred and fifty accounting majors, the Accounting department is small enough to focus on the needs of individual students. At the same time, it is also large enough to provide the resources for a rich professional education.  USD offers a Master of Professional Accountancy degree as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an accounting major.  One of the traditional strengths of the accounting program is its excellent students.

Accounting majors at USD enjoy a wide variety of career opportunities upon graduation. Our students find great placement year after year.  Public accounting firms in Sioux Falls including Eide Bailly and RSM McGladrey routinely recruit our students.  In addition, CPA firms in Mitchell, Pierre, Yankton, Rapid City, Sheldon, and Sioux City have regularly offered jobs to our graduates.  Many corporations including Daktronics, Black Hills Corporation, Citibank, and Cargill recruit our students for internships and regular jobs.  We are the only school in South Dakota where the Big 4 recruit.  Last year, our accounting students found jobs with Deloitte, KPMG, Ernst & Young, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.   Our alumni hold leadership positions in professional accounting in many part of the country.  If you want good jobs / internships, accounting is something you want to consider.

Scholarship opportunities are plentiful in the accounting department.  Our accounting alumni have given back to the University generously, not only to the new business building but also to scholarship endowments.  Thanks to their magnanimity, we are able to offer several accounting scholarships to meritorious students.  If fact, the accounting department offers the largest number and amount of scholarships to students within the Beacom school.  If you work hard, you can earn a scholarship here!  Check out our student organizations: Beta Alpha Psi and Accounting Club.
