The field of finance is centered on decision-making. Decisions about how to obtain funds, deploy funds (invest) and manage capital in personal and business settings.
In Spring 2015, students took the Bloomberg Aptitude test. Overall, Beacom students on average have performed better than the average of all schools in the USA or worldwide. This is not a small accomplishment because a good proportion of the test takers worldwide are M.B.A. students whereas most of the Beacom students who took the test are undergraduate students.
The 2014-2015 year was a tremendous success for the Financial Management Association (FMA) chapter at the USD. The lineup of speakers consisted of highly regarded business professionals from across the Midwest. The speakers were Dan Frasier & Steve Ciofalo of Waddell & Reed, Jessica Alvey, National Bank Examiner of the OCC, and Jeffery Ireland, Model Risk Governance, US Bank.
The USD Chapter of Financial Management Association International has earned the FMA Superior Chapter Award for the 2014-2015 academic year. This highly coveted designation is awarded to less than five percent of FMA chapters. Other awards were given to Dan Frasier, “Outstanding Financial Executive” and Angeline Lavin, Ph.D., “FMA Professional Honorary Member."
