Each fall we devote a week to highlighting our global opportunities and offering assistance with how to make the most of them. Events such as workshops and question-and-answer panels inform students on the entire process of traveling abroad, from beginning scholarship applications to reaching the destination. In addition, a cultural fair displays flags, clothing and other special items from around the world - right here on campus.
We also put on a photo contest in which students can enter the photos and videos that captured their travels; contest winners receive Barnes & Noble gift cards. The 2016 contest winners and submissions are below.
New this year, the video category called for a two-minute video showcasing a student's adventures while studying abroad. Senior Anna Letsche won this category with her video from the spring 2016 semester. She participated in the American Institute for Foreign Study's trip to Limerick, Ireland and spent spring break in Santorini, Greece, where she filmed this video with her friend, Brianna Perry.
Casey Matthiesen won this category with her photo, "The 'Moher' of Ireland I see, the 'Moher' of Ireland I love," taken in Ireland in June 2016. Matthiesen, a senior, has studied abroad with the Hansard Scholars Program.
Aafaque Aafaque's "Walk in Blizzard" captures Bhumit Patel walking through a blizzard in November 2015. Aafaque is an international student from Pakistan and is currently studying computer science as a graduate student.
