Music Scholarship Form (pdf now available)
A degree in music from The University of South Dakota provides students with a solid foundation to enter the teaching profession, gain confidence as a performer, or to seek an advanced degree in Music Education, Performance, Music History, or the History of Musical Instruments.
The Department of Music offers several professional degrees that offer a combined emphasis on scholarship and creative development. Undergraduate students can choose between three majors: music education, performance, or music studies. Music education majors can emphasize the vocal or instrumental area. Many students take coursework in both areas to prepare them for K-12 teaching. Performance majors excel in careers as studio teachers, music sales representatives, and performers.
