The Division of Curriculum & Instruction at The University of South Dakota School of Education that is most linked to the preparation of professional educators.  

The Bachelor of Science in Education degree is offered to those candidates seeking initial teacher certification in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or Special Education. Each program major is uniquely designed to meet professional standards for teacher preparation.  

Students seeking advanced preparation may enroll in Master's, Specialist, or Doctoral programs within the Division of Curriculum and Instruction. Students enrolled in advanced study select areas of emphasis within each program area.

The Master of Science in Technology for Education and Training or Master of Arts in either Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or Special Education affords students the opportunity to engage in advanced study.  These offerings are designed to strengthen content areas, enhance general teaching skills, and add to certification.  

The Specialist of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and the Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction degrees are designed for those students seeking careers that include directorial or supervisory and/or teacher training responsibility. Under the advisement of a committee specialist and doctoral candidates develop a program of study which is used as a framework for the degree.
