I was born in New Mexico, raised in Chadron, NE, college in Lincoln, NE and graduate school in Fort Collins, CO. I started teaching as a laboratory assistant during college in the late 1980's.

For more than 30 years, I have been teaching anatomy & physiology or some specialization within it such as human dissection or neuroanatomy & physiology. I work with students individually to maximize their potential and achieve their goals. I assist students to develop new and more effective ways of learning for comprehension and application of complex anatomical and physiological concepts.
I am currently the faculty advisor for the student Dental Club that serves pre-dental and pre-dental hygiene students.

My research involves teaching and instruction. A current project is analyzing pedagogical and demographic factors related to grades in an undergraduate anatomy and physiology class. Students report a belief they can achieve a higher grade or work less to achieve a grade in an online class. We are investigating whether there is evidence to support this or better adivse students about actual grade distributions in online and face-to-face sections.
