Welcome to The University of South Dakota Office of Greek Life

The U. has four sororities and nine fraternities, each offering opportunities for involvement and to be a part of a larger network of sisters and brothers.  Our hope is that the best memories of a student's college career include a sorority or a fraternity at The University of South Dakota.

Sorority & Fraternity Life

Since 1903, sororities and fraternities have cultivated values, opportunities for leadership, and personal and professional growth for students at USD.  Greek members strive for academic excellence and provide each other scholastic assistance through peer tutoring, academic coaching, scholarships and awards.

The University of South Dakota holds sororities and fraternities in high regard because of their commitment to:
                                   • Friendship
                                   • Scholarship
                                   • Leadership
                                   • Citizenship

Each chapter at The University of South Dakota offers an amazing experience of sisterhood and brotherhood that is unmatched by any other student organization.  Greek Life contributes to the development of:
                                   • Social Skills
                                   • Interpersonal Relationships
                                   • Communication Skills
                                   • Time Management
                                   • Self-Confidence

Members of sororities and fraternities commit to lifelong participation in their organization and aspire to high ideals and values which guide them throughout their college career and life.

The University is committed to providing challenging, rewarding and meaningful opportunities to students in order to enhance their educational experience and become prepared for the future.  The University’s Strategic Plan, Building an Extraordinary University, states the University’s desire to implement student development through engaging co-curricular activities and organizations.  The Greek experience is an opportunity for student development and for students to become not only involved, but engaged with their education and their community.
