Before starting the application process, make sure you meet the Associate of Science in nursing admission criteria.

The following must be completed in order to be considered for admission:

Admission to USD

Student must be admitted to USD prior to the nursing application deadline. To apply, complete the online application or call 1-877-269-6837. Official transcripts are required. To ensure a timely review of the admission materials, it is recommended you apply by Jan. 15 for fall semester admission.

Pre-Admission Testing

Applicants must complete the HESI nursing entrance exam prior to the application deadline.

Application to the Nursing Program

The fall admission deadline is Feb. 1. Late applications will be accepted on a space-available basis until June 1 for fall admissions. Contact your nursing advisor for more information.

The following items must be completed and received on or before midnight on the due date in order to be given full consideration.


Students enrolled in a nursing program other than USD are eligible for selection into the USD nursing program as long as they have left the previous program in good standing. Students must provide a letter from the previous nursing chairperson, director or designee.

There is no fee to submit the USD nursing application. However, if you are admitted to the A.S. program and accept the conditional offer of admission, you will be required to complete additional requirements and will be responsible for all expenses incurred.
