Before starting the application process, make sure you meet the Associate of Science (A.S.) in nursing admission criteria.
The following must be completed in order to be considered for admission:
Student must be admitted to USD prior to the Nursing application deadline. To apply, complete the online application or call (877) 269-6837. Official transcripts are required. To ensure a timely review of the admission materials, it is recommended you apply by Jan. 15 for fall semester admission.
Applicants must complete the HESI nursing entrance exam prior to the application deadline. Test scores will be submitted directly to the program.
The fall admission deadline is Feb. 1. Late applications will be accepted on a space-available basis until June 1 for fall and Oct. 1 for spring admissions. Contact your nursing advisor for more information.
The following items must be completed and received on or before midnight on the due date in order to be given full consideration.
Students who have been enrolled in a nursing program other than USD are eligible for selection into the nursing program as long as they have left the previous program in good standing. One reference must be from the previous nursing chairperson, director or designee. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure all references are submitted on or before the due date.
There is no fee to submit your application. However, if you are admitted to the A.S. program and accept the conditional offer of admission, you will be required to complete a background check and drug screen through Verified Credentials, Inc. and submit a deposit to USD to hold your position in the program. You must also comply with all Department of Nursing and Health Sciences requirements, including immunizations, CPR certification and a physical exam. The applicant will be responsible for all expenses incurred.
