Before starting the application process, review the BSN Admission Criteria.
The following must be completed in order to be considered for admission to The University of South Dakota Nursing Program.
Step 1: Admission to the University of South Dakota
Students must be admitted to USD prior to the Nursing application deadline. To apply to USD, complete the online application or call 1-877-269-6837. Official transcripts will be required. To ensure a timely review of the admission materials, it is recommended you apply to USD by Jan. 15 if you are applying for fall semester admission to nursing classes or July 15 if you are applying for spring semester admission to nursing classes.
Step 2: Pre-Admission Testing
Applicants must complete the HESI nursing entrance exam prior to the application deadline.
Step 3: Application to the Nursing Program
Fall admission deadline: Feb. 1
Spring admission deadline: Aug. 1
Late applications will be accepted on a space available basis until June 1 for fall and Oct. 1 for spring admissions. Contact your nursing advisor for more information.
Prerequisite courses must be completed or be enrolled in at the time of application to the Nursing Program.

There is no fee to submit the University of South Dakota Nursing Application. However, if you are admitted to the BSN program and accept the conditional offer of admission, you will be required to complete a background check and drug screen through Verified Credentials, Inc., submit a deposit to USD to hold your position in the program, as well as become compliant with all USD Nursing & Health Sciences requirements (immunizations, CPR, physical exam, etc.). The applicant will be responsible for all expenses incurred. See Nursing Terms of Acceptance.
