Before starting the application process, make sure you meet the RN-BSN Admission Criteria.

The following must be completed in order to be considered for admission to The University of South Dakota Nursing Program.

Step 1: Admission to The University of South Dakota
Students not enrolled at USD, must apply to USD Admissions by completing the online application or calling 1-877-233-7937. In order to be considered for the USD Nursing Program, you must be accepted to USD prior to submitting the Nursing CAS RN-BSN application.

Step 2: Application to the Nursing Program
Fall admission deadline: February 1
Introduction to Statistics is a co/prerequisite for the first semester of the RN-BSN program.

Application to the RN-BSN program can be submitted at the NursingCAS. To ensure application is completed on time it is recommended you begin the application process 4-6 weeks prior to the deadline.

Items to be included with application:

  • Official Transcripts
    Send official transcripts from each college or university you previously attended directly to CAS - including USD. (If you attended more than one South Dakota Board of Regents university, all will be included on your USD transcript.)
  • Three Reference Forms (work or education related)
    Students who have been enrolled in a nursing program other than USD are eligible for selection into the USD nursing program as long as they have left the previous program in "good standing." One reference must be from the previous nursing chairperson, director or designee.
