Interrelated Concepts: Clinical Synthesis

Pat James is an 88-year-old male patient who had an ORIF 6 days ago. He has been on the inpatient rehab unit for two days. He has tube feedings boluses to increase his caloric intake. He gets boluses if he doesn't eat well. He received a TF bolus at 2300 last night that apparently was aspirated into his lung. Upon student assessment, the patient is found to have low O2 sats, crackles to left lung and probable aspiration pneumonia. The scenario has skills the students will need to perform (IV start, straight cath urine, hang IV fluids and antibiotic).
