Grief: End of Life (Part 2 of 3)

Sally Nelson was transferred early this morning from ICU. She was admitted to ICU two days ago with acute renal failure secondary to chemotherapy. She was diagnosed about nine months ago with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. She underwent aggressive treatment with chemotherapy. She has previously tolerated the chemotherapy well with antiemetics, fluids and mild sedation using Lorazepam (Ativan). She has had several dialysis treatments but is not tolerating them. The physician has advised the client that the cancer is spreading rapidly and dialysis is only a short term solution. She is questioning whether she wants to continue with her treatment.
