As part of USD's social work program, I gained clinical knowledge on behaviors which allowed me to recognize and respond appropriately to individual needs, interests, and abilities of children and youth in a school setting.
With the additional focus of Native American families and children, I have been well equipped to work at a reservation facility and maintain best practice through cultural competency and knowledge of ICWA. Overall, USD's social work program prepared me for my career focus and provided me with the opportunity to excel in my Native American community.

The social work program at the University of South Dakota fit my interests very well. The professors are encouraging to the students and always strive for their best interest.
Getting the opportunity to work in teams has been a benefit in my current career as a social worker. And being taught the importance of building rapport with not only clients but colleagues has also been a major key to success away from USD. The smaller classes aid in building relationships with peers and creating a trustworthy and tight-knit environment.
