First-year orientation provides all incoming students with some basic skills to begin their legal education at USD Law. Essential information about the program, building, technology, services, rights and responsibilities of students and an introduction to the faculty and administration is included as part of this four-day program.
A majority of the orientation schedule is spent with the Fundamental Legal Skills professors who provide a basic understanding of how to read and brief a case as well as a primer on legal reasoning to get you started on your first assignments. Because of this necessary information, orientation is mandatory for all incoming students. A schedule of events will be provided prior to the start of orientation as well as some required reading.
