Introduction to Clinical Medicine (ICM) has been taught at the USD School of Medicine since the mid 1970's.  ICM is a section within the Department of Family Medicine, and is coordinated by a Director and an Interdisciplinary Committee.  The ICM Committee is responsible for curriculum development and evaluation.  Susan M. Anderson, MD, is the Director.

ICM is offered during the first and second years of medical school to provide the student with clinical material and experiences to complement the traditional curriculum in the biomedical sciences.  An interdisciplinary teaching approach is utilized.
