Information on Research

World class research -- faculty, staff, and students actively engaged in expanding the boundaries of scientific and medical knowledge in service to the citizens of South Dakota and the world.

The Sanford School of Medicine receives more than $15 million annually in external funding.  This continues a steady growth trend of increasing total support over the past 5 years.  Increases in investigator-initiated grant awards recognize the individual initiative and excellence of faculty research.

In response to the Sanford School of Medicine mission,  graduate students train to become doctoral level biomedical research scientists and medical students participate in summer basic science research projects.
