USD CADETS EARN TOP HONOR 2007-2008
The University of South Dakota's ROTC senior cadets ranked number one for small and medium universities in the Nation and #2 among all schools, regardless of size. This ranking comes after their performance at the annual Leadership Development and Assessment Course, which is held during the summer at Fort Lewis, Wash. At LDAC, cadets are evaluated on a number of areas, including physical fitness, their skill level in shooting, land navigation and leadership abilities.
Using eleven different criteria for comparing performance, the USD Cadets out performed 271 other schools in the Nation to secure the #2 Ranking in ROTC performance. Their skills and achievements are indicative of the potential of every student that chooses to serve through the USD ROTC program.

Military Science and Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) at the U isn't just another course of study. It's leadership training that will set you apart in any profession you choose.
Military Science students participate in the program while completing degrees in their chosen fields. In some degree platforms, Military Science courses can be used to fulfill Social Science or elective credit requirements. Any student - freshman to graduate students from any major - with at least four semesters of school remaining is eligible to apply.
