September forum at The U to debate return of the Cold War

VERMILLION, S.D. -- A panel of experts from The University of South Dakota will debate the question, “Are We Ready for the New Cold War?” which is the topic of an international forum slated for noon on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at Farber Hall on the USD campus.

Could the invasion of Georgia have been prevented? Would Russia invade Ukraine, where Russia’s Black Sea Navy is located, or Poland, where U.S. missiles are located? These and other important issues pertaining to the possible return of the Cold War will be addressed by Don Pryce, Ph.D., professor emeritus of Russian History; David Burrow, Ph.D., an assistant professor of history; Jorg Winterburg, Ph.D., a visiting professor and former dean of the business school at Braunschweig University of Applied Sciences; and Damian Donahoe, military science. Benno Wymar, Ph.D., professor emeritus of economics, will moderate the international forum, which is sponsored by USD’s Beacom School of Business.
