USD to honor grand opening of Student Veterans Resource Center with open house, ribbon cutting ceremony

VERMILLION, S.D. -- The University of South Dakota will celebrate the grand opening of its Student Veterans Resource Center with an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13.

Open to all current military members, veterans and their families, the Student Veterans Resource Center is located at the Temporary Student Center 117D on the USD campus. An open house to view the new office is scheduled from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 13, including the ribbon cutting ceremony and remarks by USD President James W. Abbott at 2 p.m.

“This is a great resource for our student veterans and for students attending USD who are still active in the military, as well as their families,” noted Jason R. Dean, Veterans Coordinator at USD. “The Student Veterans Resource Center represents USD’s commitment to our student veterans and provides them with a location necessary for academic and personal growth.”

The USD Student Veterans Resource Center is open to all current military members, veterans and their families. Resources provided by the office include benefits assistance, study space and a setting for veterans to share their military experience with other students on campus.
