National website cites USD as one of the best universities for out-of-state student costs

VERMILLION, S.D. -- The University of South Dakota has been recognized as one of the best schools in the nation on CollegeAtlas.org’s 2014 Best Colleges and Universities A-Lists.

USD is No. 13 on CollegeAtlas.org’s rankings for Best Colleges and Universities 2014 based on out-of-state tuition (www.collegeatlas.org/best-colleges-and-universities/undergrad-national-overall/out-of-state) and 51st best based on in-state tuition (www.collegeatlas.org/best-colleges-and-universities/undergrad-national-overall/in-state). USD is one of two South Dakota institutions to be featured on both lists (top 100).

The A-List rankings are notable from others in that the algorithm rewards top schools that have the best combination of Academic Quality (a great education), Affordability (low tuition costs), and Accessibility (high acceptance rates) -- resulting in a list of schools with high academic standards, feasible tuition rates, and challenging, yet realistic acceptance standards.

Instead of highlighting elite, exclusive, expensive schools that cater to the few, CollegeAtlas.org has created its own algorithm that provides a fresh, unbiased look at the concept of a college ranking list and rewards colleges and universities for factors that are most important to students seeking quality academics at an affordable cost.
