On Oct. 26, USD officials broke ground on the new campus wellness center, which is scheduled for a spring 2011 completion. The 61,000 square foot fitness center will house everything from state-of-the-art workout equipment to studios for pilates and yoga enthusiasts. The wellness center, located just north of the College of Fine Arts at The U, will be a campus hub for recreational activities, including intramural sports as well as a multi-story climbing wall.

USD alum honored nationally for assisting in creation of Physician Assistant Studies Program
A national organization has honored a USD alum and health care leader instrumental in creating the school’s Physician Assistant Studies Program.

USD Opera presents ‘Amahl and the Night Visitors’
The University of South Dakota Music Department will present the classic Menotti opera, “Amahl and the Night Visitors,” with two performances in December, including Saturday, Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Akron Opera House in Akron, Iowa, and on Friday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at USD’s Colton Recital Hall.
