I started my nursing career in 2002 after earning a BSN from Morningside College in Sioux City, IA. In 2007, I pursued further education and obtained a Master's in Nurse Anesthesia from Mt. Marty in South Dakota and became a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). I have primarily worked at a Level II Trauma Center as a Nurse Anesthetist and have gained experience in independent practice at rural facilities. In 2021, I completed my Doctorate of Nurse Practice from Morningside College in Sioux City, IA.
The facility where I have worked since 2007 regularly hosts nurse anesthesia students. As a staff CRNA, I had the opportunity to educate them about the roles and responsibilities of Nurse Anesthetists. I served as the clinical coordinator for all Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists before accepting my new position with USD.
I started my official teaching role with USD in August of 2022. I am excited to be part of the new USD DNAP Program, which aims to prepare future CRNAs for an incredibly fulfilling career.
