It's hard enough for most of us to understand the behavior of one human being. Imagine trying to understand why a room, neighborhood or city full of people behave the way they do. That's the job of the sociologist - to explore human behavior, societies and social change.
Sociology is excellent preparation for graduate studies in almost any discipline. Sociology grads are also well prepared for work in education, government, social services, public relations and many other fields.
The U offers the BA or BS in sociology. Program courses also form a major component of the criminal justice major.
Faculty members are dedicated to scholarship and teaching excellence. Class sizes are small, ensuring access to faculty and individual attention.
Sociology is a program within the College of Arts and Sciences, the University’s oldest academic unit. The College of Arts and Sciences provides the foundation for all of the University’s undergraduate students and offers outstanding preparation for graduate and professional programs. Faculty members are committed to their students and to their academic disciplines.
