The Criminal Justice Studies program is an interdisciplinary study of crime and justice in our society. Criminal Justice Studies emphasizes the key components of police, courts, corrections, and juvenile justice in the criminal justice processes of our local, state, and federal governments. Beyond the basic required courses, students can pursue advanced courses in many areas, including the historical, international, social science, and legal facets of criminal justice studies.
The Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts in Economics is the science of choice and decisions. The skills gained from a degree in economics will allow students to become successful business leaders in many industries. Students will develop skills that will allow them to weigh the costs and benefits of a particular course of action in the fields of law, industry, finance, government, education, and many other areas of business and civic life. A degree in economics prepares students for various career paths including industry economists, economists in state and federal government, city or urban planners, and economic editors.
The Associate of Arts in General Studies is offered at University Center and is designed to provide educational access to time and place-bound individuals. The program is also designed to provide the first two years of all general education requirements, enabling students to move into a four-year degree program. The A.A. in General Studies is awarded through the College of Arts and Sciences.
The Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) is designed to accommodate students who have accumulated significant college credit (60 credit hours minimum) and who want to complete a baccalaureate degree.
The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences is a dynamic major that is interdisciplinary in nature and provides flexible options that allow students to prepare for many kinds of health careers. The major provides the opportunity for students with an interest in the health professions to explore the many opportunities in the field and to develop the knowledge, values and interpersonal skills needed to be successful in today’s health and human service settings.
The University of South Dakota offers a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. This program is in response to the State and national need for wider access to advanced degrees in nursing to ensure that students are well-educated and prepared to meet the increasingly complex demands of the healthcare professions.
